Top 5 Update

This week’s update comes courtesy of the Jackson Brothers with a four bass haul that combine for over twelve pounds. My contributions came from Lake Storey while Brent fooled his fish on a Knox County public strip pit. Read on for the details.

Weight: 3-5 (18.5”)
Angler: Troy Jackson
Date: May 15
Weather: Sunny/windy, 74F
Water Temp: Not available
Location: Lake Storey
Lure: Z-Man Chatterbait (sexy shad) with Bass Pro Shops Speed Shad trailer (sight fish)
Structure: Brush
Angler Comments: This was bass number twelve of the day and came over five hours into the trip. It came along a stretch of bank that I don’t fish very often and this catch would be followed up by the fish below.

Weight: 3-3 (19”)
Angler: Troy Jackson
Date: May 15
Weather: Sunny/windy, 74F
Water Temp: Not available
Location: Lake Storey
Lure: Z-Man Chatterbait (sexy shad) with Bass Pro Shops Speed Shad trailer (sight fish)
Structure: Logs
Angler Comments: Nine minutes after landing the previously noted 3-5, this fish hit off the end of an offshore tree. As noted in the above entry, I don’t focus much on this part of the lake, but two three-pounders can change your mind. I’ll be back next time with a few casts.

The chatterbait continues its incredible run to start the year as it has landed twenty-nine of our thirty-eight 2026 Top 5 submissions. Good to see our first topwater contribution of the year and expect plenty more to follow as the weather and water warm up. Talk to you later. Troy
